Giving it a shot

I’m what they call a straight shooter. To the point about pretty much anything. Obviously since we can only relate from our own operational view point, I carried that same expectations for others in my life. Taking things at face value.

Not anymore. Life has its way to direct you where you belong. My past behavior would have me expand my energy into futile relations. Because the other would show me layer after layer of what they were really about. And I would take each layer at face value. Until there was no more layer to cover the true intent of the person. Leaving me baffled as to why anyone would go through such lengths as to pretend to be something that they are not.

Now I recognize that as I may have that one thing in common with someone; or even at times feel like that we connected on such a level that would make us want to be part of each others lives; that that may not be enough to put forth all the effort that I used to make.

I learned to give it a shot. And leave it at that. No more strenuous effort to have something in my life that turns out not to be part of my life story after all. May my attempt land where it may. Shooting for what I seek will eventually put me exactly where I belong. Anything that’s meant for me will come to me in its own time.
