Putting Things Down

That was one of the hardest things for me to learn. Acceptance. Acceptance of myself. Acceptance of how things are versus how you would like them to be. Imagine yourself being a tree. A tree that carries specific fruit. And you grow, and blossom, bearing the fruit that you were born to bear. You offer yourself to what is around you as you are. And to your surprise there are people who don’t want your fruit. Not any part of it. They don’t even care to sit in your shade as the scorching sun is beating down on them. Of course you attempt to reach out your branches as far as they extend. You even make futile attempts to bear different kind of fruit. Or to some extreme degree you tried to change the shape of your trunk. Putting on sparklers and bows to draw in more attention. But no matter, the ones not inclined to take you as you are just look at you with bewilderment. So you just learn to let your fruit drop to the ground where it may fall, to be picked up and appreciated by the ones who recognize your purpose. And every blue moon, someone will be overjoyed to sit in your shade and share part of life’s journey with you.
