on the road again

I went on a long overdue road trip over the weekend. Having zero navigational skills, no sense of direction and normally do not drive past my must find the cheese maze routine to work, I thought it a good idea to print directions from the computer. The vehicle doesn’t have GPS and relying on my phone with its usual lost satellite signal message didn’t look promising. Anyways, the getting out of the neighborhood directions entailed the common 10-12 twists and turns until it lead the way out to the open road. The open road, with all its possibilities greeting me. As I’m reading the instructions to get out of the neighborhood, all these knots and loops, I’m getting lost already. Isn’t that what happens to us though? We get so cocooned up in building walls around us, presumably for our own protection, that we forget how to come out of ourselves and just live. Reach out and touch Life as Life itself never stops reaching out to us. I managed to get out of the neighborhood, literally and metaphorically, making it to all the places I wanted to reach, enjoying myself and amazingly enough, making it back home. Safe :)
