Ever read those stories where something horrific happens and then a loved one steps forward, in the eyes of the public, heroically, to announce their forgiveness towards the person responsible for the event. I used to listen, mouth agape, in wonderment of the resilience and courage that it must have taken to exude the strength to overcome what has been “unjustly” served. And then I had my own “heroism”. It only took me 16 years to finally reach that point of humility to forgive the people and the chain reaction of events set in place who were involved in the misfortunate delivery of my son. To absolve myself from the responsibility of any burden, that is not mine to carry. To be humble enough to realize it takes opposites in everything to put you exactly where you were meant to be. To have the honor to be someone put on the receiving end of desperately needed lessons in humanity. That I am blessed not to be on the opposite side, teaching lessons of the divine spirit by causing suffering. So indeed, it’s not heroism that makes people step up to face their destiny. It’s seeing things as they were laid out for you to lead you to spiritual maturity.
