Wherever you go there you are

I went out of country last year. Completely taking myself out of everything that seems familiar. The stay lasted one week. Anyone who travels knows it takes a day or two to adjust, settle in, get used to the new surroundings. And then what do you do with yourself? Back to your same routines. The view has changed, but the viewer looks at it in the same way he or she knows how to look at the world. It took me to travel that distance to realize that I eat my eggs the same way. Not just that. I held onto my same judgmental disposition. My outlook on events and people remained the same in the new environment. It didn’t dawn on me until I returned home of course. It literally sat me down to finally see that I have been doing the same thing over and over again. Always surprised to get the same results. Changing jobs; locations; friends; relationships. With the same end results. So over the last year I have been adapting my viewpoints. I’m still adjusting the angle every day. Allowing myself the luxury of discernment to make better decisions for my life instead of shrugging things and people off in stern judgment. Finally living the truth of wherever I go, here I am.
