getting out of the goo

If you ever made Spaetzle ( soft egg noodle from the old country) from scratch, you know how gooey and sticky the dough gets. You have to gently scrape the dough in thin pieces off the board into the slow simmering water for best results. It’s a hot mess and an enduring process. Well, sometimes people come into your life, somewhat uninvited, and getting them back out of your life seems to take that same process as making Spaetzle. No easy walking away, turning your back, cutting the cords, drawing the final line. No, they stick to you, gooey-ness and all. And you are steadily scraping away. The more laborious you work at it, the more they tend to stick around. So I guess the best course to take is just to consistently keep going the direction you want to go in and eventually they will drop away. Simmering in their own hot mess they will lose their sticky attachment to you after all.
