Cha Cha Changes

2016 will bring big changes. As far as I am concerned 2015 was just an introduction of what is to come. I have made choices to direct me towards change. Conscious choices. And then I received some news this morning that surprisingly will add to the changes and choices I have made.

So I decided to talk a walk on my favorite trail. To digest breakfast and more so, the news. Exercise has a way of clearing my thoughts. It's November in Florida. The sun is baking my back as a gentle breeze cools me enough to stop me from sweating profusely. Every few feet I see one or more squirrels scurrying around with some sort of food in their mouths. Preparation for the season. Preparation for change. The trail is full of park employees, clearing debris from the fallen leaves and branches. The smell of fresh cut grass from the convoy of riding lawn mowers accompanying me along the way.

An old lady is pushing her dog in a doggie stroller. Long have passed the years of when her children needed her. I come to a rest. Still contemplating on the news I received this morning. Thinking that I will have to go through even more unplanned changes. Having to choose from a million options again. And feeling like I’m just not ready for that. I take in a deep breath. And a one arm gentleman speeds by me on his bicycle. Focused on getting where he wants to get to this morning.

I bet he was never ready for the change of living with one arm. No matter how much advance notice he may have received. Be it years or minutes. But look at him go. It's almost like he never missed a beat.

I smile and continue on my way home.
