The past is utterly indifferent to its worshippers

I was listening to this song today. Part of the lyrics are: ” I dream about who we used to be.”
And I had to turn it off.
I think I mentioned it before, I’m not really the sentimental kind. Indulging in nostalgia is a luxury that takes me out of the present moment any time I do it. So I really don’t invest much time into thinking about things past. If I do, it’s much more with the deep gratitude of where and who I used to be, and where and who I am now.
“The past is utterly indifferent to its worshippers”~ William Winter
My priority remains to be grateful for the people in my past for being there for who I was and helping me become who I am now. This can only bring more people into my life who will be here for who I am now and help shape me even more into who I want to be. So no, I do not dream about who we used to be. I am waking up to who I am.
