I just came across a post where someone was spouting off on how they couldn’t express themselves, their spiritual practices and beliefs in a certain setting without being complained about.

Spirituality~may refer to almost any kind of meaningful activity, especially a "search for the sacred”.

The term spirit means "animating or vital principle in man and animals". It comes from the Latin word spiritus (soul, courage, vigor, breath).

Here’s the thing that keeps me tripping about anyone proclaiming to be spiritual or a follower/believer of religious doctrines.

Are you living the words you are speaking?

I automatically distance myself, physically or most definitely mentally from anyone who insists on claiming to be a follower of whatever religious God they choose to believe in or anyone who insists on claiming how enlightened they are in their spirituality without being living proof of their beliefs.

I know it’s not easy. Living the words one speaks. Claiming to be of Spirit, to be sourced from Spirit to me equates a Soul inhabiting whatever physical form they are currently in. So if I claim to be that, shouldn’t I be willing to recognize and honor that in anyone else who is animated by Spirit?

I have encountered more people who pretty much don’t believe in anything, let alone run around proclaiming how spiritual they are, who show more respect to other beings than the ones who do. Not being dismissive of the other in what they choose to believe, or that they choose to believe. Versus the many spiritually enlightened people I have encountered who hold the unspoken insinuation that there are levels of enlightenment or spirituality to achieve and giving off a sense of superiority by their claim of how spiritual they are. Unyielding to the fact that whatever created us, even if we all just came from a blob of bacteria in the evolution of life millions of years ago, did so with the right to be here for any of us. And not just be here, but express ourselves in our individual physical existence.

I find that people who are not able to live the words they speak are hiding behind the persona they took on to make a definite impression upon others, but moreover themselves, trying to make themselves believe how spiritual they are. You know how easily we can identify someone who has a big ego in non-spiritual issues, things like status, education, income etc. People holding on strongly to the expectations their assumed roles come with. Yet we don’t acknowledge it within ourselves when we are stuck on our identification with spirituality. When we can’t get others to believe what we believe, we go into a tantrum about how spiritual lagging the other still is, blasting them for how they choose to express their Spirit.
