Killing hope. It’s not an easy task. But it’s absolutely do-able. I have had to do it myself a few times in my life. First you have to identify what your hope looks like. Once you got a good picture of it, stay on the look out. You want to keep sight on it at all times once you locate it.

Now, it will take a bit to find hope. You already sort of have an idea what your hope looks like, so it’s easy to identify your hope. But the location can be tricky. When it’s time to kill your hope, it usually hangs out in all the wrong places…aaah, ja. Now it makes sense, doesn’t it?

So you have to go hunting in those places you want to keep alive. Whatever your imagination allows you to believe and hang onto. Come in with some good camouflage before you enter those places that only hold you back from going where hope belongs. Make sure you move swiftly and move with purpose when you realize it is time to kill hope. Dragging it out only turns it into torture for yourself. Take a good aim and make sure you get all of hope wiped out.

Then hold a ceremony. And if it’s only a quiet one within your heart. All hope that had to die is worthy of all the dignified grief it takes to bury it. Bless it and send it on its way.

Then set your hopes on all those things that have been waiting on you with open arms. Hope will fly again. Higher and more beautiful than before. Hope can only thrive in environments that will keep it alive with reciprocal nourishment. Allowing hope to exist in swamps that drown out her beauty will keep you in misery for as long as you allow it.
