Why am I still not buying it? Here’s the thing. People advertise their happiness like it’s going out of style. I guess by going public with their “bliss”, they are trying to buy it themselves. By portraying the image of a "happy" life, they will buy into that they are actually living it and have overcome their grief and sorrow about how things did not quite turn out the way they thought it would.
Here’s why I am still not buying it. A life full of happiness is in reality a simple life. Not one jam-packed with work, activities and people. It seems to me, that people who didn’t get what they want cram their life full of those things that other people appear to desire.
We all know that people "fake" a certain life on social media. But there are just as many subtle hints in real life, that people are living out a lie. The woman who tells everyone she married her best friend, yet he treats the family pets better than her children. The mother who announces that she loves to be a stay at home mom but tells her kid she doesn't like playing with him because he always plays "mean". What is going on behind closed doors that the child acts out that way? Or the independent feminist who married her soul mate. The third one in her life. Let's not forget the "poster" people of whatever agenda they are trying to push on you, yet their daily beverages include more than one serving of alcohol to deal with life's stressors.
So stop selling me your bullshit. Yes, I don't want you coming into my face, bitching and complaining all the time. Those people are a whole different category [ read my blog "The Greys"]. But I certainly don't buy into how perfect your life is when your face of unhappiness alone belies your words.
