How close are you or why we can't seem to catch a glimpse

I have been closer to animals than I have been to humans. Not because I am an animal activist nor do I favor animals over humans. It’s neither here nor there for me, a living being is a living being after all, no matter what shape or form it takes. Here’s why I have been much closer to animals than humans really pretty much all my life.

I can count on two hands the very few occasions that people actually let their guard down and reveal themselves. Most of the time it was because they were so bowled over by information received, by truths revealed, their beliefs coming undone in such a split second, that there was no time to fasten the facade and proceed in their “for show” farce for the world. The other times would be when they were pharmaceutically/chemically altered, therefore not in control of the guard keeper. There haven’t been many true and deep, intimate encounters with other humans in my life. Connections that let me know, no matter how temporary, that we are the same source, that we do not only come from the same source, but really are the same source.

Part of that has been me. I had to grow into my own to be receptive to that sort of connection, despite wanting it all my life. Yes, I have truly looked for this sort of thing since I was a little girl. But the major reason is the fact that people for the most part do not like deep things. True things. Can’t turn my back on it things. People want glossy and artificial. People want the numbness of fake happiness over the experience of human-ity. People want statistics and even numbers that fit into boxes. Not fractions and misshaped oddities that have no other place to fit but in someone’s heart.

I don’t have a problem with people desiring a good life. I can’t connect with people who seek an easy life. As soon as a hurdle shows up, misery ensues and they seem stuck on it. Becoming ensnared in the endless pursuit of get happy quick schemes that are absolutely meaningless to being human. A good life will always entail the entire spectrum of experiences one can have only in human form. Think about that for a minute. Yes, all living beings feel everything, too. And they experience things only they can in their form. But the human experience is of such unappreciated honor. People zip through their life, doing the same shit every day, hung up on the same thoughts, fears and illusions that they literally waste a lifetime of doing the same thing daily. Not venturing out into the grandeur of their divine depth. If you haven’t caught a glimpse of your celestial abyss, I really don’t have much to share with you.

Animals on the other hand give themselves completely into the experience of what they are. Especially if there is minimal human interference into their behaviors. If you ever earned the trust of an animal, you know what I am talking about. They allow you to see the full underbelly of their existence with the believe that you will not mistreat them, but that you will take care of them with loving kindness. Even if there have been bad experiences in the past, an animal that trusts you will permit you to connect with them on that level of coming from the same source that a human rarely will allow you to catch a glimpse of.
