The wind rustled crisply through the leaves. The faint voices of children playing outside echoed off the buildings. It was her favorite time of season. When the temperature was bearable enough to leave the windows open. She would have left them open all night, but the times and the place didn't really allow for that. Even though it wouldn't really matter in her opinion. She always felt that if someone wanted to break in, they could do that just as well through a closed window. She turned and looked over her shoulder. He laid there, patiently, eyes half closed. Waiting on her as he always did since she brought him home from the hospital. She was still taken aback by his utter tolerance of things. She couldn't bare to leave him for long periods of time for that reason. Who knew what he tolerated in her absence. By now she was completely aware that it was a control thing. But she didn't give a damn any more. There had been too many times that she had left him in the care of others, just to return and find him completely unsettled. The caregivers would never admit to anything, and of course he was unable to explain to her what left him in such an unsettled state. In the beginning, she still had faith in the system. But over the course of time she learned that the system was full of human errors. Wasn't that how he had ended up in the condition he was in? It took her way too long to let go of her resentment and anger. But she finally had to make a choice. Be consumed by that resentment and anger, allowing it to eat at her or liberate herself from all the negativity to make space to be there for him in a loving presence. Forgiveness is the price paid for personal freedom. He, on the other hand, had always been patient. Patiently waiting for her, for anyone, to do what it took to make him temporarily just a bit comfortable. But then, he didn't know any different. He couldn't remember. He had always been just that, a body that required to be taken care of constantly. So patiently he waited until she cued in to his needs. There were plenty of times when she felt inadequate to care for him. Life was such a huge distraction at times. So patiently he waited. On her. If she would have only realized that indeed that's all he needed for his well being, was her. It would have allowed her to grow into herself more easily. So patiently he waited. On her. ~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~• a beautiful milieu Image Leonardo Pucci https://www.instagram.com/leonardopucci/
